Minneapolis native Lauren Coughlin finally broke through on the LPGA Tour as she picked up her first career win at the CPKC Women’s Open. Coughlin was tied for the lead with three holes to play, and played 16, 17 and 18 in 1-under to pull away from Haeran Ryu.

Coughlin is a PING staffer, and her entire winning bag was composed of PING clubs.

Driver: PING G430 MAX 10K (9 Degrees @ 9.75)

Shaft: KBS TD 50 Cat 3

For her driver, Coughlin plays the new PING G430 MAX 10K. She plays a 9 degree head, adjusted to 9.75 degrees. The G430 MAX 10K is the most forgiving driver PING has ever made, while still maintaining excellent ball speed so distance isn’t sacrificed. Coughlin was a fairway finder at the CPKC, hitting 38 of 56 fairways off the tee. She was also plenty long, averaging 286 yards off the tee. Her 286 yard average is nearly 3 yards longer than tour distance leader Polly Mack’s 283.7 driving average for the season.

3-Wood: PING G430 Max (15 Degrees @ 14)

Shaft: KBS TD 60 Cat 3

Maximum forgiveness continues to be the theme for Coughlin’s long game, as she plays the G430 Max 3-Wood. But rather than keeping it at standard loft, Coughlin has hers adjusted to 14 degrees. That gives her a little extra distance, and a slightly lower flight, providing her an option off the tee when she needs to be a touch more accurate, but also a longer club to hit par 5’s in two with.

Hybrids: PING G425 (4, 5)

Shafts: PING Tour 2.0 85 S

Coughlin pairs that 3-wood with a pair of G425 hybrids to complete her long game. But she goes back a generation for both her 4 and 5 hybrids, going with the PING G425. Her 4 hybrid is actually adjusted a degree strong to 21 degrees, while her 5 hybrid remains at 26 degrees of loft.

Irons: PING i230 (6-PW)

Shafts: KBS PGI 90 (6), KBS Black C-Taper Lite 105 R (7-PW)

For her irons, Coughlin goes with the PING i230’s for her entire set, but plays a different shaft in her 6 iron compared to the rest of her i230’s. She was very accurate with these irons, finding over 80 percent of the greens in regulation, which included 16 of 18 on Saturday, which helped get her into contention heading into the final round.

Wedges: PING s159 Raw (54S, 58H)

Shafts: KBS C-Taper Lite 110 S

Moving to her wedges where Coughlin goes with the new PING s159 wedges with the raw finish. They certainly played their part in her greens in regulation percentage, but were also solid around the greens, including converting half of her sand save opportunities.

Coughlin goes with the PING PLD Milled Oslo 3 for her putter. The Oslo 3 is a half-moon shaped mallet that’s designed for players with a slight arc in their stroke. Over the course of the tournament, Coughlin averaged 29 putts per round, which is about 1.6 putts per green, which is a very solid number.
